JUBA, South Sudan / NAIROBI, Kenya – February 6, 2026 – A high-level delegation from the South Sudan General Medical Council (SSGMC) has completed a two-day benchmarking visit to the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) in Nairobi, from 4th to 5th February 2026. The visit aimed to study Kenya's advanced digital systems for the registration and licensing of medical practitioners and health facilities.
The SSGMC team, comprising the chairperson of validation committee, and the senior inspector from the registration department, was received by the KMPDC Deputy CEO and senior management at the KMPDC headquarters in Nairobi. The intensive program included system demonstrations, technical presentations, and question-and-answer sessions on the operationalization of KMPDC's integrated online licensing system.
The primary goal of the benchmarking exercise was to gather practical insights and lessons to inform SSGMC's ongoing efforts to develop and implement a robust online registration and licensing system. Specific areas of focus included:
Speaking at the conclusion of the visit, the head of the SSGMC delegation, Dr. Abdalla Majok expressed profound gratitude to the KMPDC leadership and staff for their warm reception and candid sharing of experiences.
"This visit has been exceptionally fruitful," the SSGMC delegation lead stated. "KMPDC's system represents a mature, well-implemented digital solution that has significantly improved efficiency, transparency, and revenue collection. We have gained invaluable knowledge on system architecture, change management, stakeholder engagement, and the legal frameworks that support digital transactions. This will directly inform our roadmap for digital transformation at SSGMC."
